   I think that Drupal will probably work a lot better with the pump.io API.

    My thesis is that you pay a premium for the Apple brand, and you could instead apply those $$$ to beefier PC hardware for the same price.

    That's very interesting. I've never tried running Linux on Apple hardware, but some people really swear by it.

    The second is that I want pump.io to be simple and high-performance. Building in the kitchen sink is not how you get that.

    Behind not building in OStatus? Two reasons. One is that OStatus has some significant problems that have hurt adoption, notably privacy.
