Faffing about with Emacs, updating git version and going to 24.5. The versions in #Trisquel 7 are quite old.

One netbook on #Trisquel. Another more modern desktop installing. This should have no trouble with CPU usage.

Apt-cacher makes sense if all your systems run the same distro. If you've got different flavours or revisions (eg. !Debian, !Ubuntu, !Mint, !Trisquel) then apt cacher won't help https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Apt-Cacher-Server

@knuthollund I don't think that was necessary - it's good to have multiple !Fedgroups to reduce the dependency on any one instance. But right now it's difficult to send a message to a particular group with the same name, until group namespaces are implemented, eg. !trisquel@sn.jonkman.ca

That upgrade was self-inflicted. I contaminated my !Trisquel install with a !Debian non-free repository, and now I'm getting all these upgrades, possibly all non-free. Time for a re-reinstall!

Is there a major upgrade to !Trisquel 6.01? I just did an 'apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade' and I'm told "997 upgraded, 223 newly installed, 33 to remove and 7 not upgraded. Need to get 620 MB of archives." Wowsers. Is that right?

And another one: !Trisquel uses Abrowser instead of !Firefox, but with v29 I can no longer add a new browser to my v1.0 !selfhosted sync server. So, restore the backup of my .mozilla/firefox folder and 'ln -s firefox abrowser'. Works like a charm; all the old settings restored! #WithFreeSoftwareYoureInControl

Spent much of the night mollycoddling a !gNewSense install, only to find that my hardware (HP ProBook) is not fully supported. I suppose I could eventually get the WiFi to connect and the screen to use all the pixels, but why bother messing around with modprobe and its ilk when the problem is likely solved in another distro? Now installing !Trisquel from the netboot image; it's ba…
