@thelovebug #StatusNet discards 4 byte UTF-8 characters (actually it's #MySQL which has incomplete Unicode support in 'utf8' tables). It's fixed in !gnusocial v1.2.x (upgrade script converts tables to utf8mb4)
-
@mmn, my install never knew which full acct URLs it was supporting; þe olde #StatusNet #XRD code just ignored the domain altogether, until you rewrote it as the #WebFinger plugin (2013-09-30 17:13:03 / a0e107f17f27bc1dfc49de2a4493a461213e782e).

A little background on this is that the #SubMirror plugin only ever worked for #StatusNet with PuSH-enabled feeds. That's why I want to finish #FeedPoller - to make it possible to import "dumb" RSS and Atom feeds as well, without having to set up PuSH-services.
-
@fsf I hope you will update soon to !gnusocial ? #StatusNet is really far out-dated and unmaintained.

RT @gomerx I'm so happy I have my #own !StatusNet instance. A great experience with no dependance on corporations. We should own our own communications.
-
@isamafifi Yes, I'm still here in the !Fediverse. My posts you see in #Twitter come from !StatusNet through the #Twitterbridge

about translate-wiki: I am trying to contact some people, because !statusnet translation management was once hosted there: https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Translating:StatusNet
-
...that the implementation from #StatusNet simply takes the attached repeat without retrieving or verifying its authenticity in any way.
-
........yeah. If it wouldn't mess up all the #StatusNet instances out there that will never upgrade (and expect the insecure behaviour).
-
@postblue @roland Yeah, anything that's a problem with a fresh install of #GNUsocial should be solved programmatically and with patches, so it's consistent. All the #StatusNet mumbojumbo with people doing anything they wanted to the database and then having all kinds of problems was contraproductive.
-
@simsa0atquitter @hannes2peer @mmn there was first !GNUsocial, then Evan continued on it as !statusnet, then statusnet "merged back" into !gs
-
come to the irc channel to see what people ask or where they have problems with their !gs (to even install). I am sure @lohang can tell you also some stories about his old !statusnet ;-)

-
"I don't follow the past but what did the developers wrong ?": the owner of #identica decided to switch backend software from !statusnet to !pumpio, users didn't like this new software, so they left :-(

If you've set up a new !gs instance, please do the "use cases for new SN/GS instances" (1). cc !sn !statusnet !gnusocial (1) http://www.skilledtests.com/wiki/Statusnet_problems#use_cases_for_new_SN.2FGS_instances_.28aka:_when_one_of_the_fixes_below_work_for_you.29
