#Javascrippled is a pretty popular term in my corner of the !Fediverse: http://sn.jonkman.ca/tag/javascrippled And I used it on identi.ca circa 2011 before setting up my own !SN instance; sadly, linking to pre-bifurcation messages on Identi.ca is broken.

sometimes bangtags to offsite groups such as !fediverse or !sn are showing up as hyperlinks automatically and other times not #newinterface ... also i wish that following said links would keep me onsite and gather #network mentions by query, which may be something i can set in preferences but is probably something to do with the !gnusocial source #qvitter .. said @nydel to zeself in a publicly-viewable test queet.

@sean re: http://mulestable.net/notice/111551 we're actively developing !GNUsocial which is the successor of !SN ;)
-
@pztrn You don't get that for posts via the API yet but the notice form on the web makes sure the information is there. It's part of cleaning up the !sn mess :]
-
Hey @nybill, you don't have fancy URLs enabled :O So everything has to be prefixed with "/index.php/". That causes problems with discovery. Of course it should be handled better, but I think that might be one source of problems. I don't think you should fix this by enabling fancy URLs directly (that could cause other issues with at least !sn, probably !gnusocial too, …

Listening to @nybill and @theru discussing their #VPS and !sn to !gnusocial upgrades. https://fresh.federati.net/url/6046 #HPR episode 1836

I'm backing up for disaster recovery, so the individual DBs aren't saved separately. The entire MySQL !database backup file is 444 MBytes bzipped, which contains two !SN DBs, 7 WordPress DBs, a MediaWiki DB, 1 !ownCloud DB, and an underused Drupal DB.

Seems the info returned by the api link is very limited with older versions of !SN. Perhaps the Web UI could make the avatar image on the profile page a clickable link to the original image? !gnusocial #FeatureRequest

Is there a !SN or !GS URL to get a user's full-size avatar? For example, mine is at http://sn.jonkman.ca/avatar/2-400-20140923013817.jpeg but I have no idea how to get there except through my own settings (which requires I'm logged in)

I need to write about the upgrade (and OS-version) gotchas, so others upgrading from !SN to !gnusocial (or using "stable" OS with distro-supplied packages) can be aware of potential issues.
-
@if You can still use !sn to communicate with !gnusocial nodes, but there are lots of shortcomings in that ever-aging codebase. If you think you have to wrestle with GNU social, then I'd say StatusNet will require wrestling outside. In the mud. When it's raining. And a thunderstorm is heading your way.
-
@if you should be able to create an instance w/ !StatusNet code. Many instances are still using it.But lets better ask a !gnusocial !SN guru
-
@bobjonkman I'll log into the #wiki and update it today. Are there any other !gnusocial or !sn instances that need to be added or removed? //CC: @erkanyilmaz

@lnxw48 I have to protest this statement. As a developer of !gnusocial I _do_ see it as a problem that conversations are split and I don't think anyone disagrees. It would be best if there was a mechanism for "missing notices" to appear in your timeline. !OStatus technically supports this. I still can't say anything else than "yes, we want our implementation to handle …
-
@mmn No, I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm not saying you don't wish to fix it. But the discussions I've had tell me that some will oppose any plan to fix.

@david I've already read it. We're talking about conversations, where you normally want to see/hear what other participants are saying (and for them to see/hear what you're saying). Compare it to talking with your real-life friends. A friend of one of your friends may join your conversation. You are still able to hear what the person says, even though he/she is not (yet) your…

@simsa0 In my view, you're doing a service for the community of new and existing users for !gnusocial and !sn instances. It is good that you're discussing it openly and trying to get others' input. Makes for better…

I love this !sn / !gnusocial network. Nowhere else have I seen such heated disagreements as we've had recently without "I hate you and I never want to hear from you again." Maybe we attract a different crowd from o…
