#commonlispdotnet repos migrating to #gitlab http://url.federati.net/bkeN- not sure whether previously !selfhost ed or using one of the #beehive #code-hosting services.

The #notabug that @mmn has been mentioning is a fork of #gogs. http://url.federati.net/CTIL- CC: @bavatar @windigo

I haven't tried it yet, but http://url.federati.net/sbJUF makes #gogs sound like the best way to !selfhost #git repos. @windigo @mmn @bavatar

@benfell Holy kau! "Starting today you will no longer be able to log into and, consequently, to upload, update or edit information within your Open Salon account. For the next 14 days you will still be able to view your profile page and all the content stored therein."

I don't think this is how it's supposed to be.
I have three servers. Not *one* of them has IPv6 from my service provider. All of them now have IPv6 via IPv4 tunnels courtesy of he.net . !selfhost

Another bit of evidence for !selfhost : Open Salon is shutting down with undue haste. From the note I received, I don't see even how one would recover one's content there except by crudely copying and pasting each blog entry.

@mmn We installed gitolite and Gitlist.org bitujo.enkidu.coop and we are more and more interested in gogs.io but no time yet to test it !selfhost

@theru @encycl Yeah, I'm wondering whether to remove #tt-rss and find another !selfhost able way to read my feeds. Maybe I'll go back to #rss-owl or some other client application.

!selfhost

@manuel Good question! I agree that deployment issues are really important, especially when we want less-technically-skilled people to !selfhost on shared-hosting services. More full response later.

@mmn One of my concerns, even though I have not personally used the Gitorious !selfhost ed software, is exactly that: would there be enough interest to keep development going. I, too, generally prefer the #GPL family of licenses. #LGPL #AGPL

most interesting experience so far from running !gnusocial over !cjdns from at home, was: seeing more of the #php internals (1) !selfHost, (1) well, I thought I saw most of it over the VPS systems, but when you are on a restricted environment + have to compile or not compile a php extension, it gets interesting

@identlud cc/ !selfhost : Next challenge : migrate away from Wordpress for my blog. I'd like to find something lighter while being able to keep my blog entries in the new system !selfhosting bloatedWordpress

Is there anyone running a !selfhosted !brdcst instance? Login/Registration tells me to send an e-mail to myself for an invite, but how do I send myself an invite?

@pagsheathenman When Evan removed ads from Identica and other hosted sites, I asked him to keep them. Not because I wanted tracking and other things that often go with ads, but because I knew his corp entity needed the revenue to continue operating the service. I think you have to be firm with ad companies about what you'll allow and you have to be transparent with users abou…

@mikael !Googlefree !selfhosting at its finest

@roland @rolanddiaspora Unfortunately, JD has too many users. They use #Amazon #cloud because it'd be too expensive to host any other way. For !Diaspora, like most #federated networks, keeping a node's operating costs under control depends on distributing the hosting costs among many #podmins / admins who host or !selfhost themselves and possibly a limited number of other users.

XMPP can do all those things, has really good clients and you can - as opposed to #Telegram - !selfhost with maintained network reach. Are you on XMPP too, @yvolk?
(then feel free to add me on mmn@hethane.se .D)

@daw @hosh There are also some differences between the hosted wordpress\.com service and !selfhost ed wordpress\.org
