@musicman Fuzzy memories, I'd guess. The person claimed to remember me from #Identica, but I don't know what I could have posted that gave them that impression.
I've always been pretty quiet about work because #EMPLOYER thinks that people will believe they endorse anything I post. (I think most people are not quite that foolish, but it only takes one person to confirm it in their eyes.)

It is also thanks to Evan that !ostatus hade a platform in #identica to strive on, which turned into StatusNet which is today !GNUsocial and was the network which #Mastodon could bootstrap off and to this day federates with.

#Identica was down for a few hours the day that #Microcast went down. I am not sure what day each instance failed, but multiple other E14N #Pump.io instances (including 1realtime, urmf, hotpump) currently have or recently had multi-day outages.

@nybill @windigo There are also positive things to consider: GNU Social is stronger than ever, even though we thought it would die when #identica moved to pump.io. It approaching the usage level it had in #identica days but a lot more federated.

"I don't follow the past but what did the developers wrong ?": the owner of #identica decided to switch backend software from !statusnet to !pumpio, users didn't like this new software, so they left :-(

RT @schiessle no, #identica switched to !pumpio which is a complete different network. The "old" identica / #statusnet continues as GNU Social. RT @tanghus OK, gotta read up on it. Current identi.ca is so #useless it's laughable. RT @schiessle i also don't use identi.ca since the switch to pump.io. Just auto-forward my posts to it.
