@yvolk I only avoid their lock-in spy disservices such as YouTube, Gmail, Play etc.
There's no reason to avoid !fs tools if Google provides them under a libre license and don't require third party disservices to function.

Hey @fsf, do you have an estimate on how many !fs developers there exist in the world? I'd be happy with a number just how many individual people have ever commited to libre source code or related documentation/graphics work.

I'm trying out #Mitzuli, an !fs offline translator with #OCR. It works pretty well for reading newspaper headlines!
You can find it in #F-Droid!
(I just have to take a little better picture for the OCR to work properly) https://social.umeahackerspace.se/attachment/35235

We were almost 10 I think ;) But this was in parallell with the #ShareableLab event, so we intermixed with those people quite a lot. And in the non-techie sessions they were introduced to why !fs and #federation is important for any sort of organising which has to last over time.

We're discussing and explaining to non-techie people the benefits of !fs and !gnusocial. Not only the control of the infrastructure - but mainly the opportunity to create local communities where the social interactions between people is shaped very differently from centralized services.
