(I'm back)
The !fediverse group is for all things related to the whole Fediverse, !gnusocial is about the gnusocial part of the fediverse and in !fedgroups it's all about groups. If you create a new group or if a group moves to another instance or you want people to know about a group you post to !fedgroups.
Some Instances have a group for their instance, too.

Anybody have #mysql upgrade repo instructions for #CentOS6 that don't involve remi? remi had a bad PHP issue this summer, so now people are skittish. #RHEL6 has their #RHEL collections, but I need something specific to #CentOS 6. I know *I* could recompile or use the MySQL community repos, but those aren't going to work for everyone. The MySQL community instructions might work f…

Re-announcing the (apparently new) !fediverse group: https://social.hoergen.org/group/fediverse !fedgroups !gnusocial

Thanx @mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se ! Fully Qualified Groupnames is the best reason yet for me to upgrade! Was it a difficult fix? !fedgroups

Would anyone be interested in helping to create a list/overview of groups like we used to have? And does anyone have a wiki or a location where we can put it? Groups a a really great feature of !gnusocial and I think it's helpful for newbies and methusalem fediversians both. !fedgroups !fediverse

I understand that my suggestion for distributed management of !Fedgroups is something that is not supported at all with the current !GNUsocial architecture. Implementing something like that would be a major undertaking. I wonder if cooperative, distributed group administration and membership maintenance could be implemented with a plugin...

I'm not centralizing my group subscriptions on purpose, but it's a #NetworkEffect caused by the lack of distributed !Fedgroups hosting -- if I could create another group on my server with the same group name, and if my server then shared the load to distribute messages for the same people already subscribed to that group on other servers, I would have created a new group. It would…

There's another list of !Fedgroups at http://laemeur.sdf.org/gs/group-index.html It's an automated scraper, but it looks like it hasn't scraped since November 2016

And it appears there's already a new !Fedgroups at https://gnusocial.de/group/1452/id

The big thing that's prevented me from even trying #Mastodon is the lack of support for !Fedgroups. And that's not a wrongful implemenation of #OStatus; I believe #Fedgroups are implemented as a specific client behaviour, nothing to do with OStatus.

Dear !gnusocial and !fediverse: I put up a replacement for the dead 'listening' group. https://gnusocial.de/group/listening !fedgroups

And #fragdev will be closed soon. More #fedgroups to be created. Too many !GNUSocial sites discontinue. What are the latest additions to the GS !fediverse ? Has anyone started a new instance recently?

Judging by the lack of #elk tags, I am guessing there is no elk stack group. Wrong or right? !fedgroups !fediverse

!fediverse !fedgroups #config group aliased as !puppet !chef !ansible -- Happy to take suggestions on a link. Also, if groups exist for puppet or ansible, let me know and I can change the aliases. !sysadmin

So, for all you new users, there's this OStatus thing called "groups", which is indicated with a bang ( ! ), where you can follow, say, a topic (music, security, crypto, games and whatnot), or a specific thing (emacs, coffee etc.), or even a greeting (the tzag group for Time Zone Appropriate Greetings), regardless of who posts about it. It's a pretty powerful tool, a…
