Now that the fixes of the first !hackfest have been merged into master (thanks @mmn), it's time to plan the next one! Let's gather again to get more bugs fixed! And we'll be hanging around explaining how !gnusocial works, how to !selfhost, answering #faq etc.
It looks like July 24-25 could be a good weekend for some of us (@chimo, @mmn still ok with that?). Join the hackfest and make gnusocial better!

Right, also loadaverage has its nice (doku)wiki about !gnusocial with #faq and documentation https://wiki.loadaverage.org/gnusocial. Only the official gnu.io doesn't.

Join us for the first GNU Social Hackfest on June 6/7 to improve GNU Social usability and consistency! It will take place throughout the !fediverse, which means you can participate remotely: just follow the !hackfest group and see what's going on! Do you feel like coding? During the !hackfest keep an eye on this #etherpad
http://redaktilo.enkidu.coop/p/gs_website_faq
(courtesy of @manuel@lamatriz.org). It's a collaborative, realtime editing tool we can use to collect and edit #faq. There is already some text, which is waiting to land in some "official" faq, see https://git.gnu.io/foocorp/gnuio/issues/2. Feel free to add new questions/answers. I will try to clean it up from time to time.

!gnusocial faq is missing something very important.
How to follow a contact ? That is not obvious.
I created an account and I have following 0 if I write a notice I see only my notice. What is the next step for a beginer ?
I didn't find it on the #faq

!gnusocial hackfest 1: "Make it usable and consistent" Now that we have a bug tracker (http://status.hackerposse.com/url/7256), I relaunch the idea of a hackfest to improve gnusocial usability and consistency. You don't need to be a programmer to help, see below for a list of things you could do. When? Let's first hear from you gs lovers if you think this can be useful and feasib…

@lrockhq Yes, profile lists are created that way afaik. I never really use them, but I hear they're a good functionality if they work. Also, #gnusocial.net (and other #quitter instances) does not have the default !gnusocial #FAQ.
Documentation on profile lists/peopletags would be really good if someone feels like actually describing how they work ;)

@simsa0 @aroque Great! I propose you to keep working on this on this pad
http://redaktilo.enkidu.coop/p/gs_website_faq
Picking form a different places I did a first version and we are already thinking how to rephrase the 3rd paragraph in the federation question of the document.
Fell free to change anything and we invite you all to contribute and make together a better #faq !gs !gnusocial

OK let me see if I get that right. The #faq is going to be part of the repo, thus it will ship with every !gnusocial instance. This way the instance's admin will be able to tweak it the site's specifics and keep those p…
