@silkevicious @mangeurdenuage In the US, we often call that "under the table work", and it is very illegal. (I won't pretend it is enforced often, but when it is, the penalties can be onerous.)
I assume most countries frown on that, because governments love their taxes. -

Getting way too aggravated about people pushing their preferred distros and desktops on a Linux newbie. They're going to tell this kid to do something and he'll eff up the machine he uses for schoolwork. No one is nearby, so none of his advisors will be able to help.

I've mostly moved to Debian-based systems because I've come home too many times after several months on an assignment to find that some system is so far behind that I can't update it to current.

If anyone thinks that some sort of master keys for law enforcement to decrypt your traffic is a good idea, I would point you to the TSA's system.
