   @cmhobbs My first choice would be to use the OpenWRT router as a WiFi client at your folks' house on the same network. Next choice is to use it as a VPN host at your house, with a 'one armed router' VPN (pfSense?) at your folks'. They have separate Internet connection? If so, it gives you some redundancy too.

     @cmhobbs just use ipv6 and open the ranges in your respective routers.
