   I've been meaning to replace Perl with Ruby as my scripting language of choice. Beginning and actual useful utility script.

     Ruby is like a more modern Perl to me. Python just doesn't fit my brain.

     I work in a mostly Ruby shop these days so I'd like to get in practice reading the code a bit more. And it's something to do. :)

     Yes. Ruby doesn't have as much tacked on stuff as Perl but it adds some syntactic sugar in a few places. Sometimes less punctuation is nice
