   @gargron Oh would you look at that, thr:in-reply-to supports the type attribute (https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4685#section-3), that's good. Then I could definitely implement it that way.

     @gargron WebFinger wouldn't parse any tag. It just looks up the URI, i.e. the ref="" value. No parsing.
