*drums up the hope to find silicon based life forms*
-
@mushi Obviously carbon had a better chance here on Earth, but I don't think we should rule out the possibility that under other circumstances that molecular evolution could find its ways to build reproducible silicon based protein-like structures (or whatever the first stages of life would have to be for them).
Don't be a carbon chauvinist!

@mushi But ok, apparently a better choice would be a cold planet according to Wikipedia: "So, any environment with the potential for silicon-based life would have to be very cold and devoid of oxygen and water".
Article briefly discussing it: https://astrowright.wordpress.com/2010/03/18/target-titan/

@mushi And that's why we should keep looking for such really weird worlds (albeit still within the reasonable limits of sustaining life as we already know it)!
