   @laemeur @imathew At least latest versions use the full webfinger ID (user\@example.com) if it's there, otherwise it tries to guess single nicknames from the notice attention context. And if that doesn't match your personal subscription list is used followed by directly matching against the local instance.

     Yep. Upon delivery of a federated notice the recipient doesn't have to do any parsing whatsoever of the content. Just make sure it (the HTML) doesn't contain anything nasty.
