Looking to finally get a real SSL cert for gomertronic.com. Any suggestions? Namecheap.com seems OK. I want something browsers will trust. -

@gomerx If you just need DV, #letsencrypt has been working well for me. -

I guess I'll look at letsencrypt.org. Their certs seem to work. I should test one to see what SSL Labs thinks about it. -

Letsencrypt wants me to run a big Python script as root. HOW CAN THAT EVER BE A PROBLEM?? At all? -

@gomerx never tried it, but https://github.com/diafygi/letsencrypt-nosudo is pretty popular. -

So does it always issue certs that are just good for a few months? I guess I can't complain too much for the price. -

Hmmm. Those are reasons. Not necessarily good ones, but reasons nonetheless. -

I could automate it. But their reasons for expiring them early assume I'm stupid and lazy. :) But maybe I am if I want a year cert.
