      Nope, the IETF seems to understand copyright perfectly well. They are laying claim to authorship, which in most countries also confers copyright, and reserving all rights.       I agree, the IETF's forte is not writing copyright licenses. IMHO they'd be better off adopting one of the existing standard licenses such as GFDL or CC. Those have been carefully crafted by professionals skilled in copyright licensing precisely to avoid the ambiguity of applying copyright in order to grant FAIF distribution licenses.
