@maiyannah @verius We use Activities in Atom (and also have a json representation in ActivityStreams format). The Atom representation is what get sent between federated instances and in the classic interface you get a link to it served both in the <head> (check your browser's RSS feed button!) and in the sidebar of a notice/conversation/stream.

@verius That link is APP, Atom Publishing Protocol. It's an endpoint you're unlikely to use, but awesome for those who do use it.
I'm not sure what you mean with "the federation feed". Please explain.

@verius The Atom feed of a user is PuSHed (Pubsubhubbub v0.4) to subscribers. I mentioned how to get the Atom timeline of a user earlier.

@verius It would be insane if I for example had a singleuser instance and wanted to follow some 10-20 people who hang out on instances that are the size of 1000 users and get hosed down with all of that crap :P
If you wanted, you could probably consume the public_timeline.atom directly though, but I'm personally not in favour of that.
