@mayiannah Terabyte sized disks are cheap, storing that data isn't a problem .]
And we only store one copy per uploaded file, duplicates are matched against sha256 of content.

Yes, leaving unattached uploads is a bug I'm very much aware of. Mainly due to cp posters leaving their attachments behind despite the account being deleted...
