@deavmi #Freedombone mesh is currently purely wifi, so you access it you would run a command on your laptop.
-
@deavmi on client devices, like laptops, I expect some Debian based distro.
-
@bashrc @deavmi see http://freedombone.uk.to/mesh.html#orgheadline3
-
@cmhobbs The underlying software is debian 8, using batman adv and running ZeroNet and Tox
-
@benediktg @cmhobbs Freedombox is a Debian pure blend. Freedombone includes some non-packaged applications, like GNU Social
-
@deavmi a wired mesh is certainly possible, although wireless is more practical for rapidly building networks
-
@benediktg @cmhobbs not really. Some parts of freedom-maker are used, but really it's just a similar self-hosting system
-
@deavmi If you're running batman adv on wlanX then you can connect to the mesh network
-
@deavmi the client will need to have ZeroNet and Tox installed and the network configured, but that's all done via the menuconfig
-
@deavmi Are you trying to do VoIP over mesh?
-
@deavmi I don't know if there are any batman adv apps for phones
-
@deavmi mesh routing is a different protocol from the simple spoke and hub architecture of ordinary wifi
-
@deavmi You could have two wifi adaptors on different protocols, but not adhoc and infrastructure at the same time on the same adaptor
