    Is there anything analagous to Twitter's "trends" in !gnusocial? I know some individual instances keep track of their own "popular notices," but is there anything like that which spans the whole !fediverse? Would something like that even be possible on a federated network?

      You can start subscribing with a feed aggregator to all the public feeds of federated nodes. Then apply some logic to it.
      Tags are in the metadata as Atom 'categories'. Text is of course just available as text. Happy analyzing!

      @zoowar How does it not scale? Of course it wouldn't, couldn't and shouldn't encompass the entire network, but I do believe it would work with higher volumes.

      Yeah, but I was thinking more that you don't need to have a subscription _every_ node to find trending subjects as you'd only need major nodes.
