I am extremely provoced by the suckiness of #dd-wrt. They store _all_ configuration in nvram for some reason?! (at least by default, maybe this stupidness can be avoided?). I was just recently having extreme troubles because "port_forward$n=" - where $n maxed out in the hundreds - filled the itsy bitsy 64K nvram (#UPNP rules for hundreds of users). !grrr

Apparently I can enable JFFS storage (i.e. internal flash) but it's not default and I don't really understand why. I don't accept "flash wear" as an excuse.
Also, it is allegedly risky to enable it, which I'm not about to do when I'm about 100km away from the router in question.
