I would like to write a plugin for !gnusocial that - when you link a YouTube video (or similar) it launches 'youtube-dl', gets the video and then host it locally.
Fortunateley, I found a 3TB harddrive that I that already had been put to good use.

@erkan Yes, or just get the #WebM directly. Most videos have it as an option. (otherwise 'youtube-dl' can convert itself).
And I think it is pretty clear #YouTube does _not_ allow third parties to host "their" videos. You can't even download CC:by licensed videos from the website afaik. It would of course be a blatant violation of copyright.
