I think federated group takeovers are unlikely to happen. It could happen in today's non-federated groups too, but all #Fedizens seem to be a polite bunch. And if a takeover of a federated group gets to be too much for an admin, she can always remove her server from that group, and start another group. - Joshua Judson Rosen repeated this.

@laemeur Duplicate groups are not a problem of etiquette, but may be a technical problem. Currently GNUsocial has no way to address a group at a specific instance, eg !group@example.net (it's on the wish list) -

@erkan That's an interesting solution. So groups would be federated within the network. Everyone who hosts a group with the same name adds to its resilience Joshua Judson Rosen repeated this. -

@bobjonkman, #federation and #syndication are different (probably orthogonal) things. Federation is what we have right now.
