More and more, I'm feeling like people whose employers don't want them #contributing to #FOSS should fine new employers—not just for the reasons that FOSS people usually site, but because those companies are basically doomed.

I think that for technical people (who are usually the ones with IP agreeements) the market is good enough that they can ask for this.
