now we are moving on to FLOM: free and open media
-
@douglasawh !CC MEDIA? :-)
-
We haven't defined what exactly #FLOM is. We want the term to embrace free software and free culture, but we don't want to be held down by those definitions. For example, a show that records via GNU/Linux but using Skype could be FLOM (or whatever we end up going with).
-
Are you kidding? A show recorded with #Skype via !GNU / !Linux should be better listed under SPYM = Spy Proprietary Your Media
-
if you are releasing to the world, what does it matter if you are spied upon?
-
we did have this discussion though, and I was against the idea. We are open for suggestions on something aside from "independent media"
-
Isn't there already an established definition? http://www.ur1.ca/0j2 such as "use of a free format", etc.
-
that's for free content. It says nothing about method of production. We are looking for something to encompass a license. It's more aspirational. It was mostly @marxistvegan's idea, so maybe he can say exactly what he was thinking about.
-
ugh. Left out the "not". We are NOT looking for something to encompass a license.
-
Not all proprietary programs can work with free formats, which seems to exclude them from being able to make free cultural works.
