judging by @evan's recent post, sounds like the no-new registrations thing is going to survive. I think that's a mistake, but pretty sure he knows more about it than I do.
-
That's interesting. Why do you think it's a mistake?
-
I can understand not wanting new registrations before The Big Pump and perhaps immediately after, and I understand the push to federate, but for people coming from a non-federation world, I think they will want a canonical instance.
-
I also tend to think it creates an establishment problem @fontana goes on about. Those with @identi.ca accounts will be the oligarchy and those without will be the neuvo riche, as it were.
-
I know that's not at all the intention, but I think it's an inevitable unintended consequence
-
First, it's not by mistake that I've downplayed the role of the site in pump.io. There's no public feed, per-site tag feeds, site search.
-
@douglasawh I hope that the canonical place to go will be pump.io, and get routed out from there.

at the moment, it doesn't appear to be doing much routing. It looks like a developer thing right now. That seems like a reasonable strategy going forward though.
