     I updated the webfinger node.js client today to support the new draft of the spec http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-appsawg-webfinger-09

     I think it does a pretty good job of switching between HTTPS-only mode and more tolerant dual-protocol mode.

     It will also fallback nicely from the new, practically unused Webfinger draft to RFC 6415 and LRDD.
