     I think we're still used to a big line of middlemen between consumer engagement with a product and its designers and producers.

     But with software, especially SaaS and Open Source, usually the designers and producers are *right there*. They're engaged.

     I think a lot of people say "Gnome 3 was made by idiots" the same way they say "McDonalds is run by idiots."
