Anybody tried running #Friendica and !statusnet on the very same domain (so that I am http://ur1.ca/ar56q on both)?
-
@rysiek I don’t think that will work.
-
@jpope because it all had to go thropugh HTTP on port 80. ffs, so much fail here.
-
I just think that there would be too many conflicting things. And if I navigated to example.org, which would show, SN or friendica?
-
Why not subdomains (friendica.example.com and statusnet.example.com) with name based proxying.
-
because that would be too easy ;-)
-
@jpope a landing page with both. duh. ;)
-
@zoowar because I want to have a single ID on all my services. rysiek @ example . com. the fact that this is a problem is absurd.
-
@zoowar the problem is not how/where to set up the servers! the problem is the fact that all such services assume full access to a domain.
-
A service can't tell the difference between a domain and a subdomain, so don't configure a naked subdomain. (example.com is naked)
-
@zoowar I don't think you understand. I want to have the same ID on statusnet and friendica. if I set them up in subdomains, it won't be so.
-
They tore down the Berlin Wall otherwise you'd have a great place to bang your head.
-
It's probably possible with an xrd link rel, but you might be the only one that cares.
-
@zoowar well thanks for all your support.
-
.@zoowar @mike @lnxwalt @lnxwalt I have an idea, I need your input: http://rys.io/en/90 !statusnet !friendica !diaspora
-
Spend some time at hueniverse maybe starting with http://ur1.ca/arl7v
-
@zoowar thanks. reading. seems overly complicated, but a good start. does anybody actually implement this already?
-
There really isn't a problem.
-
Brilliant! So I could use :sobac.com/services.txt to redirect to :identi.ca/bobjonkman ?
-
@zoowar ah but there is. try running statusnet and diaspora under the same domain name (so that you'd have the same ID on both)
-
@bobjonkman not really, no. this is for having several HTTP-based services under the same domain, not for redirection.
