#testing does a : break a hashtag? #let:me:find:out
-
Yes a “:” does break a hashtag. There will be no “Home Sweet ::1“ tag then…
-
@jpope this is not right. Contact the !sn devs immediately
-
@nds Agreed. #suboptimal
-
@jpope what do we want? hashtags to not be broken by colons! when do we want it? in the next stable release!
-
@nds @jpope I beg to differ. why? here's #why: <- punctuation is punctuation and needs to stay that #way, otherwise we will have a mess.
-
@nds @jpope I mean, #HomeSweet::1 is neat and punny, but for one use of a punctuation mark in a hashtag, there are dozens where it shouldn't
-
@nds Today, colons; tomorrow, whitespace!
-
@vanden muhhahaha!
-
@vanden is there a unicode character for "slippery slope" ? ;-)
-
@rysiek #I.know.not.what.you.mean :P
-
Well, a punctuation char followed by <white-space> or <eol> is punctuation, otherwise it's something else (e.g. ellipsis ...)
-
@zoowar ellipsis is punctuation;when trying to fit a msg into 140chars one might omit spaces;at least sometimes. not to mention #smileys:)
-
OK, bad example. Here's another, the dot in example.com. And no, it's not an interpunct.
-
@zoowar and that example shows the need to include punctuation in #hashtags - how exactly? because that wsa the topic... ;)
