   Every time I have a new system, I load !emacs once before I've put my .emacs on and I feel horribly disoriented.

     @arnebab What do you have in mind? The starter kit (various versions) seems useful, but I was already set in my ways by the time I found it.

     @vanden I think it would be nice to have emacs simply bring more features by default. There is so much I had to setup myself to make it work

     @arnebab See, right there shows there's no one true way. Only completion I use is stock M-/. Suggestions?

     @vanden exactly that’s the complication… I think package.el can be a nice step towards (slow) standardization: less copy-paste
