International CCsters, does the following name step on any toes: "Netizen Empowerment Federation". Describing the vision of the org would take much more than 1 post, so ask if curious.
-
@douglasawh people who used "netizen" 10+ years ago have surely moved their toes since. Room for new shoots.
-
@mlinksva Are you saying " #netizen " is passé? The rich and powerful may wish to disenfranchise us , but that's something else again.
-
@laurelrusswurm yes http://ur1.ca/92fta (and surely use in books a lagging indicator). ps shoots->shoes, if preferred.

Rather like saying "Internet" http://www.ur1.ca/92ghm is passé ... both will level out like "citizen" in time http://www.ur1.ca/92ggx

@mlinksva There is a difference between disposable "trendy" words & words describing new idea that will be assimilated into the language.
-
the idea came from @coyo (I believe) who mentioned a "netizen enclave" recently. a distributed enclave is a bit of an oxymoron, but that was the idea in my head at the time...not with a lot of detail attached to "enclaveness" but "federation" captured a sense of togetherness

@douglasawh "netizen enclave" sounds very 1990s, but I guess sth in the air https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3876034
