@luka Wasn't vertical timeline the standard for all trackers back in the days? .) Since you could only do a handful of simultaneous tracks anyway, and maybe compared with punch card-instructed mechanical instruments, it was more natural back then. I'm sure @pettter has less speculative thoughts.
