     They missed on purpose, this time. The goal is to de-orbit Cassini in September (IIRC) right into Saturn's atmosphere. These close passes are designed to bring the orbit of Cassini closer to the de-orbiting point later this year. The big goa lis to prevent Cassini from crashing on Titan, where it might contaminate the moon and confuse any later attempts to look for independent life on Titan.
