The community is the key element to social media software, and you cant program or engineer that per se. You cultivate it over a time with your actions as an admin, and a social network gets precisely the community they cultivate.

@takeshitakenji I'm just waiting for the moment someone kicks up a complete shit storm because I didn't want their PR/MR in the main software for whatever reason, or that I didn't drop everything for their pet feature or bug, or whatever. You know it's going to happen sooner or later.

If it ends up they screw something up, we can always revert it if it's bad enough to not be easily fixed, but the damage you do to people's willingness to contribute can be severe, if you reject them outright.
