@bob It's considered bad ettiquette to run testing on candidates that you're not seriously considering, but UK IT employers are notoriously bad for not giving a shit about that kind of thing.

@bob I used to run hiring for two of the companies I was involved with and while I'd agree they vary there's a certain ettiquette about what is considered acceptable in hiring and what isn't. Generally speaking, it's considered poor form to waste applicant's time - you tend to get a reputation, if you do, and thus you're not going to attract top talent. Of course, that's only a concern if you want top talent.
