If you have problems beyond that, it's because the software is overriding that.
(Which GS does occasionally, but that's another problem)

@takeshitakenji @lambadalambda @archaeme It shouldn't? That's what I did to decisively make GS stop having UTF8 errors locally. It'll override that if you get an ANSI or other charset from a remote though, such as the messages I was getting occasionally back when UTF8 broke for you.
