@gameragodzilla It is a licensed Doom engine game so it MIGHT work on Doom ports, but I would think this would have a lot of complications since like Strife it had a lot of custom stuff. -

@gameragodzilla Kind of? It was a version of the idtech engine that was in between the two. -

@gameragodzilla Remember you can use dosbox to reassign keys, so you could make strafe keys not be a toggle by having your desired strafe left and right key be a combination of the toggle key and strafe -

@gameragodzilla I don't really remember offhand the exact syntax for the file, but the dosbox config files have one that's for keybinds. -

@gameragodzilla Like I said, it was an in-between state. With the advancements it has Id say its more Doom than Wolf3D, but I guess its something that's debatable. If the wolf port guy is working on adding support thats good to hear though. -

@gameragodzilla Should be fine. If not the dosbox site has instructions on how to write one up. -

@gameragodzilla Here's the docs: https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Mapper
Basically you just want to create an event for that has two presses assigned to it. -

@gameragodzilla Just keep in mind that rebinds them for the entire dosbox shell so if you end up at the command prompt from the game or something, the binds will happen there too. -

@gameragodzilla Probably could fuss with it into a setup thats ideal with out that but it depends on how long you want to play around with it I suppose. -

@gameragodzilla It was arguably Strife that set that one, though it was definitely the first Quake that popularized it. -

@gameragodzilla I feel like the only way that could be more 80s is if it ended on a Bronson style synth drop -

@gameragodzilla Actually come to think of it I think Strife is the first example of a game having actually pretty good voice acting. Though it suffers for the compression of the time in ways that are probably obvious if you listen. -

@gameragodzilla Actually Strife is probably much more to your tastes when it comes to that kind of hybrid. The majority of the RPG element is kept to narrative choices, of which there were quite a few, especially for a game of that era.
