@archaeme @moonman I don't expect that to be a safe haven or any less painful for much longer given the IRS going after it big time now.
-
@archaeme @moonman I doubt Bitcoin is going away, but it's days of being an unregulated and easy to use digital currency are probably coming to a close.
-
@archaeme @moonman Heh, my sale of the btc I had back a few years back now funded basically a year of low income until HLA started paying my expenses so I can't complain too much.

@moonman @archaeme The ponzi scheme structure is going to haunt it till the end of its days. Say what you will about it's legitimacy now or technical merits, the way in which it was set up to favour early adopters has done more damage to it's reputation and adoption than a million screeching tech "news" stories could. IMO

@moonman @archaeme They knew what they were doing. I used to be on the lists. I suppose I'm a bit of a hypocrite for having cashed out though.
-
@moonman @archaeme They mostly were using it as an impetus to get people to contribute to the blockchain, not as a malicious thing, when they designed it that way, but you can bet dollars to donuts it attracted opprotunists that then tried to get more people in so that they themselves could cash out.
-
@moonman @archaeme The "bitcoin gold rush" as one article coined it was full of both opprotunists and genuine idealists who like the technology both, but the exposure it got nonetheless exacerbated a lot of problems I dont think the developers thought deeply about in inception.
-
@moonman I don't think the opprotunists were among the designers of bitcoin, and I don't think the designers really accounted for them.
Now the bitcoin EXCHANGES on the other hand...

@clacke @moonman Bingo.
