"On Sunday, the European Commission warned Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube and Microsoft that if the companies do not address their hate speech problems, the EU will enact legislation that will force them to do so."
Freedom of speech ... what's that?
-
And people wonder why I voted Leave.

@maiyannah PCkistan, formerly known as Europe.

@katiekats Its really curious to me that they go after you much more than they do I, but its probably because they think they can change your opinion whereas anyone that knows me knows I don't intimidate or bully. Mind you, if new stuff comes up I'll re-evaluate my position, but that requires facts and arguments, not just polemics.
-
@katiekats To someone in a tribalesque group like that, there is nothing more abhorrent than "one of their own" questioning the orthodoxy or sympathising with the Others.
-
@sim @katiekats This is a result of people whom validate themselves externally. To feel good they have to seek others that share or reward them for their opinions. The flip side of this is that people whom don't share their opinions make them uncomfortable and/or upset, so they feel a need to remove them. This is incidentally why its not enough for these people…
-
@katiekats @sim If there's any theme throughout society right now, its that people just aren't willing to take real risks. Those that do seek to have the rewards of those risk-taking behaviour usually expect others to do it for them. Most others are happy to just huddle in their "safe space"
-
@sim @katiekats The root of narcissism is projecting an image of strength because in truth you feel you are extremely weak.
-
@sim @katiekats It's very much the locus of how we see so much "projection" such as in the SJW lot that opposed GamerGate or similar.
-
@ghostdancer "Censorship is bad but..."
You were good until the "but"
-
@ghostdancer I oppose the UK government's censorship push and I oppose the EU government's censorship push as well. But given the choice between one censorous authority dictating what I can and cannot do, and two cenosorous authorities both dictating what I can and cannot do, I would chose the one.
-
@ghostdancer The decisions taken in the EU will very shortly not matter to me, and good riddance to bad rubbish.
-
@ghostdancer I am hopeful it does not.
-
@strypey @ghostdancer Bye!
-
@strypey @katiekats @sim So kind of like how you seem to have this inherent need to continually interject contradictions into conversations I have with others?
-
@strypey @katiekats @sim Smartass.
-
@strypey @katiekats @sim Free speech isn't freedom from the consequences of that speech, such as people being annoyed at you when you continually interject into unrelated conversations people are having with others.
-
@strypey @katiekats @sim Perhaps you should explain it to yourself, first.
