@cphuntington97 @xj9 @alpacaherder The "didn't want compatibility" part is not exactly right. They wanted everyone to switch to a pump compatible protocol. Now that #ActivityPub is defined, that will soon be the way to interop with #Pump.io.

@cphuntington97 @xj9 @alpacaherder It was mostly to try and enable #Pump.io selfhosters to minimize its resource needs. Though I suspect the use of $5/month DO droplets are one reason that the pump network has so much downtime.

@lnxw48 @cphuntington97 @xj9 @alpacaherder It was less "didnt want compatability" and more "didnt add it" - at least until later on, they did have a (now-defunct) site which was a GNU social bridge. I wonder if that code is available actually, I'm not sure, but it would just need shoved in GS and bam you'd have federation right now, with what's left of the pumpio network anyways

@alpacaherder @cphuntington97 @maiyannah @hobbsc @xj9@loadaverage.org Recently, the high school kid strugee has been pretty active with #Pump.IO development. I'm hoping it isn't too late for the project.
