"Trump Protester Tells CNN She's Ready for a Civil War: 'People Have to Die'"
And to think Hillary supporters were trying to tell us how violent Trump was.
-
@sulman Nothing fallacious with pattern recognition.
-
@nerthos One can hope, but I'm somewhat doubtful, despite his bombastic pre-election persona.
-
@nerthos Meanwhile the authoritarians rioting in the streets are madness maddened all the more and driven only by unrestrained hate.
-
@nerthos Sometimes it would be preferable.
-
@verius @purplehippo @nerthos Even if he is literally saintly and enacts policies that are 100% pure goal he will be demonized regardless, not that I think he's in any danger of being that good, he isn't. But my point is, the Democrats and their supporters NEED him to be that bad, they find validation in that.
-
@purplehippo @nerthos Dehumanization is a cancer the media has been all too happy to spread since they profit directly from promoting such rhetoric. It has become extremely effective clickbait.
-
@verius @purplehippo @nerthos Puts me in mind of that excellent Scott Alexander article "I Can Tolerate Anything But The Outgroup"
-
@purplehippo @verius @nerthos Guardian is suddenly pushing really hard for "independent press" aka "we don't want to be in the employ of the Man anymore" - which can't have anything to do with the Man not being the social group in power anymore I'm sure.
-
@verius @purplehippo @nerthos BBC is publicly owned in name only. A lot of private interests have had their piece of that pie for a long time now.
-
@verius @purplehippo The modern media has been very authoritarian in bent, more than left or right, but other than that semantic quibble I agree with your observation. They'd be out for Clinton regardless.
-
@sulman @purplehippo @verius Clickbait for the clickbait gods. Stir the pot. Fuck all the innocents whose blood are literally being shed right now in Oakland and elsewhere. They're the stepping stone to greater profits.
-
@purplehippo @verius @nerthos The shit-disturber in me wants to see how many people I'd trigger to violence if I wore a rainbow tshirt saying Lesbians for Trump.
Really, at this point, this absolutely appalling behaviour is only serving to me sympathetic to Trump when previously I had no love for either of the two major candidates.
-
@nerthos Even Vox, who was as pro-Clinton as they came, has described the Democratic party as "a pile of smoking rubble" now.
-
@nerthos Social in-groups versus social out-groups. The people socially acceptable in your groups versus the people whom are not. You can tell a lot of people by how they treat the latter.
-
@nerthos Oh if there's protests here (like there were BLM "solitarity" "protests" in Toronto aka riots), you better believe I will.
I'd have to make sure to bring my sidearm just in case though. These people are violent thugs.
-
@purplehippo @verius @nerthos At this point its actually a huge opprotunity for Trump, in my opinion. They are his PR spin. If he handles them charitibly he'll win a lot of points with the undecided voters, or those whom disliked both candidates. And he has that opprotunity specifically because the Democrats are throwing violent tempertantrums.
-
@nerthos They use groups, parties, names, causes, as a shield against personal responsibility. See for example, environmentalism, feminism. People blame that cause, rather than the bad actors.
-
@nerthos I'd like to idealistically believe I could do that and create dialogue and debate but in reality with these kinds of barbarians all you'd get is violence.
-
@purplehippo @nerthos If there's anything that bothers me more than any of this and the surrounding issues, it's people who pretend to speak on my behalf and then shove all this bullshit in my mouth, just to leave me to deal with the consequences.
-
@nerthos That's the Liberal party in Canada. They did some great things in the past including advocating gay rights and better working conditions for workers, but Chretien's era was the most corrupt and regressive regime in Canadian history, including many bills which significantly curtalied individual rights.
-
@purplehippo @verius @nerthos It is for this reason I suspect him getting in was the mass media's intention the whole time. Virtual signalling is easy clickbait and he'll be giving them all kinds of ammo for at least four years.
-
@nerthos Among many others, yes. There were similar reactions on mastodon as well.
-
@nerthos I find some amusement in the irony that is much of the anti-white screed resembling madlibs of stuff from the Nuremburg Rallies.
-
@nerthos Not many people have the stomach for that anymore. It is after all why the middle east was a cesspit after the allied forces withdrew: the masses back home couldn't stomach the idea of utterly crushing the Taliban. And so now we have ISIS.
-
@verius @nerthos @purplehippo They're usually the first to run or get violent and unreasonable when shit gets real. As I guess were seeing.
