An argument for giving kids open-book tests during the pandemic (and after) I like especially here the argument that by explaining open-book exams are not easier and preparing students to take them, you prepare them for higher level synthesis as well. https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2020/11/30/an-argument-giving-kids-open-book-tests-during-pandemic-after/ -

From CDCgov http://status.hackerposse.com/url/22934 on Twitter: Rates of #COVID19 remain high across all regions of the United States, with 68% of jurisdictions experiencing increasing case rates. Help slow the spread: Wear a mask over your nose AND mouth. Wash your hands. Stay 6 feet from others. More: http://status.hackerposse.com/url/22935 http://status.hackerposse.com… -

From NPR https://twitter.com/NPR on Twitter: The Arecibo Observatory has collapsed. Once the world's largest single-dish radio telescope, it was used to detect the first binary pulsar in 1974 a discovery that bolstered a key idea in Einstein's general theory of relativity. https://www.npr.org/2020/12/01/940767001/arecibo-observatory-telescope-collapses-ending-an-era-of-world-class-research?utm_campaign=npr -

OK. 4 hours just to get ::getTaggerWeight() to be allowed in compiled code while also allowing ITrackToVertexIPEstimator to be used in compilation. FANTASTIC. The solution: Use AthDerivation, not AthAnalysis. Thank God it was obvious in hindsight. -

Alternatively, ATLAS Friends, I'll accept an AOD (not DAOD) container tag set that contains PFlow jets decorated with the DL1r auxiliary data for b-tagging. And go. https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1333869457597460480/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/69684 -

OK, ATLAS Experiment friends: in Athena 21.3.X, FFS how do you retrieve the b-tagging weight of a jet? Fun fact: the BTaggingSelectionTool does NOT contain the ::getTaggingWeight() method in 21.3. And go. https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1333868119476068352/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/69682 -

As of the latest Athena conundrum, we have moved from "Lacuna Coil" to "Evanescence". That is not a good progression. -

In order to get the tag weight for a jet, I have to use AthAnalysis in 21.2, but if I want to compute the distance from the tracks to the interaction point, I have to use Athena 21.3. He didnt take covid-19 seriously. Being hospitalized made a believer out of him. The analogy at the end of this piece is apt: coronavirus is a massive ongoing marshmallow test for all of society. https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/12/01/covid-behavior-change/
