"Because not all have yet secured the blessings of liberty" On this July 4, when we are ravaged by pandemic and incompetent leadership masquerading as populist monarchy, it is good to remind ourselves of the declaration that was made in a different age â** on July 4, 1776. Then, the Second Continental Congress adopted what is now referred to as the â**Declaration of Ind… -

12 inconvenient truths about schools and kids that should be considered before reopening from a teacher These are for K-12 but many apply to college. I guess the future phrase that historians might use to summarize this period of U.S. history is going to be ... "He golfed while America suffocated." -

When it comes to new cases during a pandemic... A straight, positive-sloped line on a logarithmic plot is a bad sign (it signals exponential growth). An exponential, positive-curved line on a log-plot is ... the stuff of nightmares. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/public-health/2020/07/03/dallas-county-reports-over-1000-new-coronavirus-cases-in-new-single-day-high-during-what-officials-say-is-the-deadliest-week-of-the-outbreak-so-far/ https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1279180687355138048/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/65889 -

Tested out of "Canvas LMS training" the other day. Irony: the quiz to test out checks only rote memorization of technical details (like how to load an image into a page), rather than on demonstrating how you learn to use Canvas, or on translating a course into Canvas. Sigh. -

Science is better when we open our doors to immigrants All should be welcomed, encouraged, supported to engage in science. Our institutions in general do not do this.
