   Trying to get a Fedora install to work. Pretty disappointing. Not sure how quality could have taken such a nose dive.

   It's definitely less flexible. Their multiple desktop implementation OK, but in general they want people to have fewer choices.

   You can get used to Mac OS, but it still gets in the way. It's so much better than Windows, though. All my command line tools are there.

   We have about 14 Linux servers I run, so it's easy to manage them from a Mac in a terminal. Sometimes I support Mac and Windows users too.

    He just wants me to be the most productive, and we could use the Macbook elsewhere. I can do everything on Linux but run Mac OS.

    Yes. He knows I'd be at least as productive on Linux, but I do Mac support and occasionally need Windows. I can do some in VMs though.

    Talked to my boss today about giving up my Macbook Pro and Windows machine for a Linux laptop. There are definite advantages.
