I'm migrating http://sn.jonkman.ca/ to a new instance, likely httpS://gs.jonkman.ca/ in a month or two, and recreating the groups on the new instance, then decommissioning the old one. I can direct people to join the https://gnusocial.de/group/526/id group instead of recreating the current !OSM group. -

@solariiknight, all flat maps of the earth are distorted by definition, the question is just which types of distortion are/aren't acceptable for a given application... !osm -

@solariiknight, areal vs. linear vs. angular distortion is a standard #tradeoff in #cartography, similarly to #photography trade-off of `ultrawide lenses that preserve straight lines' vs. `fisheye lenses that preserve the shape of people's heads'. !osm -
