@cmhobbs !gnusocial in Emacs is ok. XMPP needs work. The best I found was some jabber-mode thing with OTR.

@weerosie The extremely, charmingly, buggy https://quit.im/ service (which federates with all of !GNUsocial)
Otherwise an #ownCloud or #MediaGoblin instance is great for uploading, archiving and storing, then you can either link to or embed from those places wherever you want to share the photos.
Don't Instagram horribly ruin, compress and otherwise mangle uploaded images? Not really a good way to share, eh.

@colegota Yeah it fails PuSH signature validation, which is common with http/https confusion in !GNUsocial. Maybe I can solve this once and for all now that I have a concrete example where people don't start fiddling in their databases manually ;)
