@bobjonkman with Diaspora, my experience is you have to get a lot of software versions right. It installs under a very specific environment. It's also much more complicated than !gnusocial with your web server functioning as a proxy. This is the kind of thing that's a step too far for me. As to switching from http to https, I think it *can* be done, but since !gnusocial now instal…

To get !GNUsocial for HTTPS only first set up your Web server for HTTPS only (including redirects from HTTP to HTTPS), then install GNUsocial normally. You'll only have problems if you install GNUsocial with HTTP then switch the server to HTTPS later (or vice versa), or arbitrarily allow HTTP and HTTPS connections for the same URLs.

Setting up a !GNUsocial instance isn't bad; I've done it live in front of an audience twice now, and takes me less than 20 minutes. Don't know about !Diaspora; you can ask @stigatle about his adventures: https://quitter.no/notice/2292084

So, do !gs bookmarks not federate anymore, or did I break something on my instance again? :)

One of the conversations that gets pruned over at #quitter.is is this one, in case someone actually thinks it would be worthwhile savingin a distributed form. (sorry @question) !GNUsocial

So now I get to figure out why, despite fixing #DNS, phpinfo() hangs. Really.
I don't even know where to begin.
And guess what? It turns out that some of the !gnusocial cryptography code depends on phpinfo().

Oh, man @zoowar , you can't imagine what a relief this is. I just hope it's right. The messages are all gone. !gnusocial https://cybernude.org/conversation/166283#notice-220640

@zoowar !gnusocial I don't know but it sure *looks* like $this should be $nli . I tried that substitution and things *look* a helluva lot better.
-
Did you try commenting out line 556? Without looking into the code, I would guess that the "$this" should be "$nli"

Logs are in a separate notice. But setting up a new instance didn't fix it, and subscriptions are taking forever (I'm assuming they hang), so I'm ditching that effort. @zoowar !gnusocial

I tried setting up a new !gnusocial instance on http://status.hackerposse.com/url/11931 . But things seem really awful there. Subscriptions never complete. And I still see in the logs: [Mon Sep 12 21:30:48.066537 2016] [:error] [pid 13163:tid 37174202368] [client http://status.hackerposse.com/url/11932] PHP Notice: Undefined property: ActivityVerbPostPlugin::$notice in /var/www/ne…
