Actually I believe public networks can and do have a real effect on how people communicate, collaborate and interact in a _positive_ way. Assuming it is well known that communication is public, moderation is good and people aren't assholes (which many unfortunately become in a pseudo-private environment).

I fully support privacy, but believe in some cases it should be solved with pseudonymity in a public space rather than inpenetrable fortresses.
